Tottenham ready to trigger £25million deal for Kulusevski this summer

Tottenham are expected to trigger their option to sign Dejan Kulusevski at the first opportunity this summer.

Spurs have two windows in which to buy the Sweden winger following the 18-month, £8million loan deal they struck to sign him from Juventus in January.

They have an option to sign the 21-year-old permanently for £25m at the end of this season.

That option would remain in place for another 12 months, but Spurs would be obliged to sign him for £30m if he plays in at least 50 per cent of Spurs’ Premier League games for a minimum of 45 minutes next season and they qualify for the Champions League.

While signing him this summer means a more immediate transfer fee outlay it also avoids the prospect of the higher figure kicking in at the end of next season for a player who has already shown what he can add to Antonio Conte’s team.

Kulusevski has been a big hit, cementing his place in Conte’s side, scoring twice and setting up five goals in just 10 Premier League games.

‘We are talking about a player that I know very well because he played in Italy,’ said Conte.

‘He played in a fantastic way when I was the coach of Inter. I tried to ask for him but then Juventus moved before us. Maybe they put more money than us at the time!

‘We are talking about a player who is only 21 — he has to continue in this way. He has a big engine and is good technically. For Tottenham, he is a good signing for now and the future.’

Meanwhile England Under 21 midfielder Oliver Skipp is on the verge of signing a long-term Spurs deal worth about £35,000 per week.
