Tottenham 'need another plan' after Brentford draw left them without a goal in last two games

Tottenham 'need another plan' after they failed to score for a second successive game following Saturday's draw at Brentford, according to former Spurs defender Alan Hutton. The stalemate at the Brentford Community Stadium left Antonio Conte's side two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with five games to go.

Spurs also slipped to a 1-0 defeat home defeat to Brighton in their previous fixture. However, prior to that, they had won the previous four matches, scoring 14 goals in the process, with Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski thriving as part of a three-pronged attack with Harry Kane.

However, Kane had the fewest touches of the ball of any outfield starter for Spurs during the draw at Brentford. And just six of those were in the opposition box (who scored).

Hutton believes that teams are more adept at neutralising the impact Kane's vision, range of passing and link play has on Spurs' attack. He suggested that Conte may need to alter the way he sets his team up to get his talisman firing again.

"If you look at the stats, no shots on target in the last two. Hutton told Football insider.

"That is incredible for a team like Tottenham with the firepower that they have. I think Brighton did really well against them.

"They understand that if they can shut down those spaces down to Kane and Son, they become ineffective. They need another plan of action if they can't go through them.

"I think, at this moment in time, it's Harry Kane dropping deep. Give him the ball, he turns and makes things happen.

"Stop that, you stop Tottenham. Teams are finding that out. To change that, you need to change the type of player or style of football
