Tottenham latest news: 'Maybe it's on him' - Fresh Harry Kane claim emerges

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has put the onus on Harry Kane to improve Tottenham‘s goal difference and fire them into the race for the Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side missed the chance to move within one point of the Champions League places after they were beaten by Southampton on Wednesday, although Spurs do have games in hand on all of their top four rivals.

It’s been a mixed start to 2022 for Tottenham, who have crashed out of the Carabao Cup, were dumped out of the Conference League without playing, but remain in the FA Cup and have a favourable fifth round draw against Middlesbrough, while remaining firmly in the battle for the top four.

However, something is not quite clicking for Conte’s side, who’ve not managed consecutive Premier League wins since early December and have won four and lost four of their last eight games in all competitions.

Spurs head into this weekend’s round of top-flight fixtures sitting seventh, just four points behind West Ham, although the way Tottenham are going, they’re going to need to finish ahead of all of their rivals due to their goal difference.

They are currently five goals worse off than Manchester United, eight behind Arsenal, while West Ham are 10 goals ahead, with Spurs’ current goal difference +1.

Therefore, Bridge has urged Kane to score the goals to get his side back on par with their rivals.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Maybe it’s on Kane [to improve Tottenham’s goal difference]. He’s very capable of scoring six in a row, we know he is.”
