Tottenham 'interest' 102-cap superstar who Levy can sign for nothing

Gareth Bale’s emotional connection with Tottenham could help the club re-sign him this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 102-cap Wales international has had two previous spells at the north London club, and Jones thinks there is a possibility that he could return once more ahead of next season.

Bale has had a miserable season at Real Madrid, playing just five times across all competitions for the Spanish giants. He has only featured for the club twice since the turn of the year.

His relationship with the Spanish media also appears to be at an all-time low, with the winger labelling their treatment of him as “disgusting” last week.

His contract is set to expire in June, and it seems extremely unlikely that he will sign a new deal, meaning that he is due to depart Real Madrid as a free agent in the coming months.

He has been linked with a return to Tottenham when his contract at Real Madrid runs out.

Jones is not convinced that Bale will have many offers on the table this summer.

The 32-year-old inspired his country to a significant 2-1 win against Austria last week to move Wales to within one game of making this year’s World Cup.

His performance was full of passion, and Jones feels this showed that he wants to play for a team that means something to him, which could work in Tottenham’s favour.
