Tottenham insider airdrops Rangers with team news bombshell as major update gets 'wowed' reaction live on radio
Tottenham will be forced to play Archie Gray out of position at centre-back tonight according to a club insider, as Ange Postecoglou shuffles his pack due to injuries.
The under-fire Aussie brings his team to Glasgow to face Rangers in a massive Europa League Battle of Britain. He's riding out some rocky waters, having won just one of his last seven games, and injuries have more than played their part in their worsening crisis. Of the squad registered for the trip north, three of his four senior centre-backs will be missing, with Cristian Romero, Mickey van de Ven and Ben Davies all injured, leaving Radu Dragusin standing alone.
And that led Clive Allen, who played more than 100 times for them in the 1980s and twice served as their caretaker manager during a long coaching career there, to drop a bombshell live on air.
Speaking on Alan Brazil's talkSPORT breakfast show, he said: "Ange will go as strong as he can. The problem is Romero, Van de Ven and Ben Davies are all out, three defenders injured. Dragusin I feel will play with young Archie Gray alongside him at the heart of the defence. So that will be a test for them. But other than that, he will be as strong as he can, because he needs to win the game."
That rocked Brazil slightly who said: "Archie Gray? Do you think he'll play centre-back? Wow."
And Allen replied: "I think he could, and I think he might have to. Purely because of their lack of numbers in that position." And Brazil's response to that was a simple 'Crikey.'
