Tottenham Hotspur stance on Djed Spence transfer revealed ahead of Nottingham Forest final

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a move for Djed Spence this transfer window, whether Nottingham Forest are promoted to the Premier League or not.

Forest face Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (4pm) in the Championship play-off final looking to return to the top flight for the first time since 1999. Steve Cooper's side defeated Sheffield United in the semi-final thanks to a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory at the City Ground to set up the final.

Spence, who is on loan from Middlesbrough, has been one of the most influential members of the Reds' squad this season and has appeared 45 times this season - scoring three and assisting four.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League and European clubs after making the official Championship team of the season. Spurs reportedly saw an offer rejected by Middlesbrough in January and are set to reignite their interest in the right-back this transfer window.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, football.london journalist Alasdair Gold explained the Premier League club's stance on Spence. He said: "If Forest don't go up, either way, I think Spurs will make a move for Djed Spence.

"If Forest go up then they may hold the cards, they'll have that extra money and he may want to continue his journey there. But if they don't go up, I don't think they'll have the money to make his move permanent and he'll be more willing for a Premier League move.

It isn't just Spence attracting interest from top clubs at the City Ground. Joe Worrall has been linked with a move to West Ham United and Leicester City, while a host of clubs are monitoring Brennan Johnson's situation in the Midlands.
