Tottenham have 'checked out' £18m 'mentality monster' at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur have ‘certainly’ taken a close look at Eintracht Frankfurt defender Filip Kostic, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Spurs have already strengthened at left wing-back by bringing in Ivan Perisic from Inter and could make further reinforcements in that area of the pitch this summer.

A report from The Athletic in April revealed the main aim for Tottenham will be to sign a left-sided centre-back ahead of next term, and that the ‘next priority’ will be two wing-backs, one for each flank.

And although Perisic’s arrival has already secured some additional reinforcements for Antonio Conte’s charges, further additions could still be made.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has previously stated that Kostic will be allowed to leave Frankfurt if the Bundesliga outfit receives a bid in the region of €15 million (£12.8m).

However, Bild (via Get German Football News) now claim that the Serbia international, who only has 12 months left on his current contract, has a €20m (£17m) price tag.

The report alleges that Serie A giants Juventus are eager to snap up Kostic, while reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has stated that there’s a ‘growing confidence’ at Tottenham that he might be someone that they can bring in.

Jones has confirmed that Kostic is on Conte’s radar, and believes if the capital club are able to secure his services early on in the window, then it could be ‘a great statement of intent’.

In an interview, he told GiveMeSport: “Kostic is certainly somebody they have checked out as well. I think it’s going to be a really interesting time for Tottenham to make a mark on this transfer window.”
