Tottenham eye up Monaco star Youssouf Fofana as exciting plan for Frenchman revealed

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana ahead of a potential raid this summer, according to a report.

Spurs are in need of hefty reinforcement if they are to continue on their path of progress under Antonio Conte. In fact, the manager reportedly wants as many as six new signings as he prepares to bring Champions League football back to the north London club.

Defence is a key area for Conte. While Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni is on his radar, Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic is also on his radar.

Tottenham bolstered their midfield in the January transfer window.

Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Juventus and subsequently had a massive impact on the club’s Premier League top-four push.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, though, Spurs now have their eyes on Monaco star Fofana.

Fofana, 23, is a team-mate of Liverpool and Real Madrid transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni. The pair regularly played alongside each other this season, with Fofana racking up 46 appearances in all competitions.

He has an eye for assisting goals too, having laid on four strikes for team-mates as Monaco finished second in Ligue 1.

Fofana signed for Monaco in January 2020, moving across his native France from Strasbourg.

Since then, he has played 93 games for the club and has two caps for his country’s Under-21s side.

As well as playing a key role in the league this season, Fofana made five Europa League outings and scored one goal. Tuttomercatoweb‘s report adds that the Paris-born midfielder is one of a few targets Tottenham have all over the pitch.
