Tottenham deals for 20-goal strikers taking shape as Man Utd prepare new Harry Kane approach

Super agent Jorge Mendes is working on two Tottenham transfers they’d prefer to not have to make amid claims Man Utd could bid for Harry Kane this summer.

Kane was the subject of intense speculation regarding a move to Manchester City last summer. Pep Guardiola’s side hoped Kane would be their ideal successor to Sergio Aguero. However, despite lodging multiple bids north of £100m, Tottenham would not budge.

Kane began the season slow but has since returned to his best amid a series of world class displays.

The 28-year-old has seven goals and three assists in his last seven league outings. That included a goal at Old Trafford in Spurs’ only defeat in their last five matches.

Now, a report from the Athletic has claimed Kane could be pursued once again this summer, though this time from the red half of Manchester.

United chief Ed Woodward reportedly explored the idea of signing Kane last summer. However, the Red Devils did not want to enter into a bidding war with City.

But 12 months on, United’s uncertainty over their attacking positions could see a move ignited.

Mason Greenwood remains unavailable amid an ongoing police investigation. Edinson Cavani, meanwhile, is poised to leave as a free agent.

Marcus Rashford has endured his worst season to date in a United shirt, though a report recently revealed why United believe his slump will soon end.

Anthony Martial has never truly convinced at Old Trafford, while doubts persist over whether Cristiano Ronaldo will still be in Manchester next season. Retaining the Portuguese icon without Champions League football on offer will be difficult.

As such, the Athletic note Man Utd will be in the market for a top striker and Kane is their No1 target.
