Tottenham could replace Conte with Roberto Mancini or Graham Potter

Tottenham are looking at alternatives to Mauricio Pochettino should Antonio Conte leave, with Graham Potter and Roberto Mancini among the names set to be considered.

There remains significant uncertainty over Conte’s future at Tottenham ahead of next season, and Pochettino has been largely viewed as the ideal candidate to replace the Italian in an appointment that would mark a dramatic return to Spurs for the Argentine.

However, Sportsmail has learned there is some opposition from within the Tottenham hierarchy to the prospect of Pochettino returning to Spurs in the event of Conte walking out.

And while Pochettino remains an option, the resistance has led the club to explore other avenues.

Spurs have long admired the work Potter has accomplished at Brighton and will be on the club’s radar if they find themselves trying to replace Conte this summer.

The Seagulls boss was considered last summer following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, but the role eventually went to Nuno Espirito Santo.

But most intriguingly, Italy boss Mancini would also be an option for Tottenham.

Luring the former Manchester City boss to north London could prove problematic given his current role as manager of the Italy national team.

But Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici - who will be tasked with identifying a replacement for Conte - is understood to be an admirer of Mancini.

It’s important to stress that Tottenham’s due diligence towards the appointment of Conte’s successor remains a matter of contingency preparation, with sources indicating succession planning at football clubs is completely normal.
