Tottenham continue on recruiting mission as they look to snatch Prem pair McGinn, Ward-Prowse

Tottenham have reportedly registered an interest in signing Premier League midfielders John McGinn and James Ward-Prowse.

Tottenham have already made an improvement on their squad for next season. Indeed, Antonio Conte brought in winger Ivan Perisic on a free transfer as his first pice of summer business.

Continuing to recruit well will be important for Spurs. Especially considering they will be returning to the Champions League next season.

There have been reports that Conte is keen on reuniting with Christian Eriksen. The star played for Conte at Inter Milan, and of course previously played for Spurs.

Whether or not that is a deal to be done remains to be seen. Danish journalist Carsten Werge “would not be surprised” if Eriksen was to remain at Brentford, following their contract offer to him.

It seems Tottenham are keen on recruiting in the midfield region either way.

The Express reports that Aston Villa’s McGinn and Southampton’s Ward-Prowse are being eyed as alternatives. Both stars have been vital to their respective sides over the past few seasons.

McGinn has bagged nine goals and provided 13 assists in his three seasons in the Premier League. His first strike in the top flight came against Spurs on Villa’s first game back in the Premier League.

Ward-Prowse notched 11 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions this season. What’s more, he is one of the best free-kick takers in the league, if not the best.

Both players appear as if they could succeed for Spurs, and make the step up to playing European football.

Both of McGinn and Ward-Prowse would add an element to the Tottenham midfield. The preferred two in midfield this season: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur contributed to eight goals
