Tottenham: 'Conte factor' could lure £33m target to Hotspur Way

It would be surprising if Tottenham managed to sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries this summer, but it is not impossible, says journalist Dean Jones.

The 26-year-old is currently being linked with a move to north London, and while Jones believes having Antonio Cone in charge does give Spurs a chance, the transfer insider thinks Daniel Levy will still struggle to sign him given that he has only just joined Simone Inzaghi’s side.

The same report states that Inter would be open to selling to the Premier League outfit for around €40m (£33m), though they could face competition from Bayern Munich.

Dumfries, who has previously been described as a “bulldozer”, joined the Nerazzurri from PSV Eindhoven last summer and has impressed since arriving at the San Siro.

From right wing-back, the Dutchman has been dangerous going forward, coming up with over 10 goal contributions in all competitions, which could make him ideal for Conte’s 3-4-3 set-up.

“Maybe the Conte factor would be enough to do that, but I still think it would take a big sales pitch to get Dumfries at this stage to join a Tottenham team who aren’t as good as Inter
