Tottenham boss Cristian Stellini sets players challenge in Manchester United top four battle

Tottenham Hotspur manager Cristian Stellini has challenged his players to be more attacking should they wish to overtake Manchester United in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag's team are currently in the driving seat for a place in the top four as they sit three points clear of Spurs, with a game in hand. However, should Tottenham beat Bournemouth on Saturday, they will move back into the Champions League spots ahead of United's trip to Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

Stellini, who was formerly assistant to Antonio Conte but is now interim head coach, believes that his team needs to show a more ruthless attacking edge should they wish to overtake United this season. "We could do it," he explained in his pre-match press conference.

"We have to play eight final games like eight finals. We have to play attacking football. We are trying to push more to create more chances, to try to shoot more on target, to create something that can create a good atmosphere in the stadium and to get the crowd behind us. We have to do our best to do this because atmosphere in the stadium is important for us.

"It’s like one player more when you play. And so we have to push ourselves to do our best, we have to play with the right confidence, with the right mindset to bring with us all the fans. I don't think we are speaking about a huge change. It is the work that we work on for a long time.
