Tottenham announce Richarlison transfer as Antonio Conte spending spree continues

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Richarlison from Everton in a transfer worth a potential £60million.

The Toffees will receive an initial £50million with a further £10million payable in add-ons. The signing is something of a coup for Antonio Conte's side and the Brazilian becomes his fourth addition of the summer window. Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma have already joined.

Richarlison is a proven performer in the Premier League following his time with Watford and Everton. Last term he was vital in keeping the Merseyside outfit in the top flight. The forward will compliment a forward line that also includes Harry Kane and last year's Golden Boot winnerSon Heung-min.

The 25-year-old has scored 48 goals in England's top division and is now a regular with his country, helping them achieve Copa America glory in 2019. He also added an Olympic Gold Medal to his collection in the summer.

Chelsea, who were also keen on the forward, made a late attempt to hijack the deal after Daniel Levy had settled on an agreement. But their eleventh hour play wasn't enough to swap the player. Everton needed to offload the player to balance their books and said following his departure: “Everyone at Everton would like to thank Richarlison for his service and commitment during his time with the Club.”

Richarlison himself had expressed a desire to quit Goodison Park as he eyed pastures new, with options in England and abroad thought to be on his radar.Tottenham secured a top four finish last term with Conte at the helm and must now prepare for a return to the Champions League.
