Total solar eclipse 2024 live stream and how to watch online

Millions of people across North America will get to view a spectacular total solar eclipse on Monday.

Shortly after 7pm UK time, the eclipse will make landfall on Mexico's Pacific coast at Mazatlan before moving into Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and 12 other US states in the Midwest, Middle Atlantic and New England, and then Canada.

The last stop will be Newfoundland, with the eclipse ending in the North Atlantic around one hour and 40 minutes later. The moon's shadow will travel more than 4,000 miles across the continent.

“From the right vantage point, you can see the Moon shadow rushing towards you at 1,000 miles an hour as totality approaches.

“When almost obscured as the Sun’s light shines through valleys on the Moon’s limb, you see
