Top Boy actress Jasmine Jobson cast as Ramla Ali in upcoming film on Somali-British boxing champion

Jasmine Jobson, known for her role in Top Boy, has secured a leading role in the biopic of British-Somali boxer Ramla Ali titled In The Shadows.

The film is currently being shot in London under the direction of Anthony Wonke.

Originally, Letitia Wright of Black Panther fame was slated to play Ali but the role has now been taken over by Jasmine.

Joining Jasmine in the cast are Finn Cole from Peaky Blinders, who will portray Ramla's husband Richard, and Gershwyn Eustache Jr as her boxing coach.

In The Shadows will narrate the true story of Ramla, a refugee who secretly trained to become a boxer without informing her strict Muslim parents in London, reports OK!.

Ramla made history by becoming the first boxer, regardless of gender, to represent Somalia at the 2020 Olympic Games and participated in the first-ever professional female boxing match in Saudi Arabia.

Expressing her excitement about the role, Jasmine said: "It's a complete honour to take on the role of Ramla and to be trusted to help share her incredible story.

"The project celebrates not only her prowess and boldness as an athlete who has broken numerous barriers but also her incredible journey as a Somali woman who has faced and overcome immense difficulties.

"Not only to celebrate her talent, strength and determination as a boundary-breaking athlete - but also as an incredibly inspirational Somali woman who has overcome huge adversity.

"The significance of her story is particularly resonant as she entered the UK as a refugee, making it a
