Tony Mowbray makes Blackburn Rovers transfer claim

Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has told the Lancashire Telegraph that the club’s recruitment is key to them progressing in the long run. 

The Lancashire side are currently in and amongst the batch of teams that are competing for promotion back to the Premier League and have proven a lot of their doubters wrong this season.

Mowbray has mainly bought in younger, more hungry players with the aim of developing a side based around a key philosophy that he has adopted in more recent years.

Speaking after celebrating his fifth anniversary at the helm of Blackburn, Mowbray was quick to underline just how important the club’s approach to transfers has been and will continue to be:

“I’ve said from day one to the owners of this club, everything is about recruitment.

“Recruitment is the most department at any football club. You get recruitment wrong, your team isn’t going to improve.”

Rovers certainly used the January transfer window to their advantage, with the likes of Dilan Markanday, Ryan Hedges, Deyovaisio Zeefuik and Ryan Giles all arriving from Tottenham Hotspur, Aberdeen, Hertha Berlin and Wolves respectively.

Meanwhile Harry Chapman, Tyler Magloire, Hayden Carter and Dan Butterworth were all loaned out to lower league clubs.

The Verdict 

Some permanent signings have really worked out for Rovers in more recent years, whilst their utilisation of the loan market has also been very impressive for all to see.

They continue to go from strength to strength and have a number of bright young players at the heart of their team which make all the difference every game.

Mowbray has done a brilliant job so far and seems to take his side to the next level every year.
