Tony Docherty takes Rangers words of wisdom from Walter Smith to Dundee as new boss issues 'right time' verdict

Tony Docherty admits he followed words of wisdom from the late, great Walter Smith when deciding to take the Dundee manager’s job.

The 52-year-old was appointed Dark Blues boss as successor to Gary Bowyer who left the club earlier this month after guiding Dundee back to the Premiership by winning the Championship title.
