Tonbridge Angels manager Jay Saunders sees good value in the loan market with Wycombe Wanderers pair Christie Ward and Broady Peart the latest arrivals

Jay Saunders continues to make good use of the loan market to help Tonbridge Angels.

Christie Ward and Brody Peart are the latest names through the door, joining from League 1 Wycombe for a month apiece.

Midfielder Ward made his full debut against Worthing on Saturday, while Peart came off the bench during the second half.

“It’s a newish link with Wycombe,” said Angels manager Saunders, who’s been contending with a number of injuries.

“They’ve been really good with us, and I was pleased with how Christie and Brody played.

“They came in and trained on Thursday night and it’s difficult because they don’t anyone or the way we play.

“Christie had a good debut, he was solid in there, and Brody, you could see he’ll have an impact.

“He’s a big, strong boy with pace and he put some great balls in.

“They will be good assets and I think you can see with the way the squad is, it was important we got them in.”

Ward was one of four loanees in the starting line-up in Tonbridge’s 2-1 defeat by Worthing.

The others were Matt Rowley, Ethan Sutcliffe, and Jack Wood, who are on board from Reading, AFC Wimbledon and Southend respectively.

Keeper Rowley was outstanding while Wood scored the Angels goal - a terrific strike from the edge of the area, and his first since returning to the club.

Saunders has also had Toby Steward from Portsmouth and Charlie Pegrum from Leyton Orient this season.

“If you look at the nucleus of the squad, it’s been here all season,” said Saunders.

“We’ve just tinkered around the outsides.

“For us as a club, we get good value in the loan market.

“I can’t disclose what we get these lads in for but it’s really important that we’re able to do that and use our contacts to get these boys.
