Tom McKibbin remains in contention at the Kenya Open
Tom McKibbin fired a successive round of 69 to leave himself six shots behind leader Nacho Elvira at the halfway point of the Magical Kenya Open.
McKibbin had an eventful outward nine, with three bogeys to go along with shots picked up on three and four. An eagle on ten was the start of a more consistent showing heading for home. A birdie at the last saw him finish on four over and in a share of 26th.
The other Irish players in the field did not make the cut, which was one under. Gary Hurley added a 74 to his opening round of 72 to finish four over. John Murphy ended up on 15 over after his round of 78.

Spain's Nacho Elvira leads the way on 10-under par. Three birdies around the turn and then a birdie-birdie-eagle finish were the highlights in a round of 65. He has a one-shot advantage over Jayden Schaper, Nick Bachem and Ryo Hisatsune.
The latter had set the early clubhouse target on nine under in a round of 63 that contained ten birdies.
