Tom Garratt not worried about Sam Kasiano threat as he expresses Hull KR confidence

Tom Garratt may be new to Super League but the Hull KR prop is not weighed down by an inferiority complex, far from it.

At 6ft 4in and 110kg, it is easy to see why Garratt is not cowed by names or reputation.

A tough apprenticeship in the amateur game as well as the Championship not only steeled Garratt's body but his mind too.

The front-rower talks with authority about Super League, a competition that can force newcomers into their shells.

He is only three games into his Super League career, with his fourth assignment pitting him against Sam Kasiano among others in the Catalans Dragons pack.

But tonight's clash with the Dragons in Perpignan could be a game against Thornhill Trojans as far as the Siddal product is concerned.

"It doesn't matter to me," said Garratt. "They've all got two arms and two legs. It doesn't matter to me at all.

"Every team has got a big prop and someone who has played a lot of NRL. You could pick a name each week.

"He (Kasiano) has got a big reputation and if you want to get swept up in that then you're already starting to lose the mental battle. He's just a bloke with two arms and two legs and will be tackled just the same as everybody else.

"You're all men; you're not going out and facing Superman. I'm a bloke as well and I'll be fine.

"There's a trap there, especially for someone stepping up in standard. If you start believing their reputation and all the hot air and noise, you're going to start doubting yourself and second-guessing your capabilities.

"As soon as you've tackled one of them and have run into one of them, you quickly realise they're just another man and you're absolutely fine. You've just got to go and get stuck in."
