Tom Aspinall beats Marcin Tybura with stunning first-round knockout at UFC London

Salford fighter Tom Aspinall returned with a bang at UFC London with a stunning first-round knockout victory over Poland's Marcin Tybura.

Returning to the venue of his horrific leg break a year prior, Aspinall showed no signs of ring rust as he stopped his opponent with three minutes and 47 seconds still remaining of the first round. Victory for the Brit has surely put him in a good position to challenge UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Aspinall entered the octagon with the inspirational words of Tyson Fury ringing around the O2 Arena. Fury is a former sparring partner of the 30-year-old and he would have been proud of this performance against Tybura.

In the build-up, a relaxed Aspinall showed a lot of respect for Tybura and this continued as the pair touched gloves and patted each other on the back to commence the fight.

However, within moments the bell was being rung as Aspinall sent out a statement to the rest of the division. Looking loose from the outset, the Salford native began by landing a high kick which quickly dismissed any fears about his leg.

This attack was followed by an elbow to the middle before a flurry of punches saw an end to the fight. Speaking to TNT Sports afterwards, Aspinall said: "I'm different now, I'm going all the way.

"That seemed an easy fight but he's won seven of his last eight - he's a really good human being and respect to him for everything. Give me that mic. I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll go to Paris for [Ciryl] Gane vs [Sergey] Spivak. I'll beat the winner and then I'm going to beat Jon Jones."
