Todd cleans up at 2022 Armoy Road Races

Davey Todd cleaned up at the 2022 Armoy Road Races with four wins and a new lap record.

The Milenco by Padgetts Honda rider won both of the Supersport and both the Superbike races including the feature Race Of Legends.

He opened his account winning the Supersport race that was carried on from Friday evening when it was postponed due to the wet weather. It wasn’t all plain sailing as Darryl Tweed who started in the second group took full advantage of the clear road in front of him and edged into the lead on corrected time. Todd upped the pace in the final lap to take the win by just 0.315 seconds ahead of Tweed aboard his Wilson Craig Honda.

The second Supersport outing saw Todd lead from start to finish. Adam McLean was runner up 5.119 seconds in arrears and Derek Sheils on his first road races aboard the McAdoo Kawasaki taking the final podium spot. The Open race was again a Todd procession as he had another flag to flag victory beating runner up Sheils by 3.686 seconds to the flag and Michael Sweeney in third a further 10 seconds in arrears.

In the feature race The Race Of Legends Todd put in a sensational performance breaking his unofficial lap record he set during qualifying on Friday with a 108.534mph lap 1.5 seconds quicker Michael Dunlop set last year.

He took the victory more than eight seconds ahead of Sweeney and Sheils after the chasing pair had had a race long battle with Sweeney snatching the lead on the final lap.

Jamie Coward won the super twin race with a three way dash to the line him, Michael Sweeney and Paul Jordan three abreast on the final drag, Coward snatching the win with only 0.023 seconds slitting the three at the flag, Sweeney was second and Jordan third.
