Todd Cantwell in mysterious Rangers transfer explainer as he rinses 'mind blowing' Norwich treatment behind exit

Rangers star Todd Cantwell has attempted to explain his decision to leave Norwich City in a mysterious social media update.

Cantwell joined Rangers from Norwich on a long-term contract in January and has been one of the stand-out performers of Michael Beale's tenure at Ibrox, with 24-year-old quickly winning over the fans north of the border with his displays in the Scottish Premiership. It brought an end to his time at Carrow Road where he had come through the academy ranks, after being frozen out of the squad following David Wagner's arrival at the club.

After making an instant impact at Ibrox, Cantwell has now offered Norwich fans a veiled explanation on his move away from the club - admitting he would like to return to the Canaries at some stage of his career. Taking to Twitter, Cantwell said: “Now my feet have landed I just wanted to say, I love my old club Norwich and this is my message to the fans. Thank you for all the amazing memories we made, don’t forget how good we had it.

“I always gave my all and delivered the best I could. The club had special owners and staff that work within the club who helped guide me and be part of my journey.

"The treatment I received towards the backend of my spell was mind blowing and beyond anything I ever imagine was possible in football. You the fans never had the truth.

"The truth will be known, but I want you all to know how much I loved my time at my home club and how one day I wish to return the best version of me. Once a canary always a canary."
