Todd Cantwell and the 'difficult' Rangers factor he's thriving under to make himself Ibrox hero for big moments

He has managed to get to grips with Rangers demands - and that will go a long way to making Todd Cantwell the man for the big Ibrox matches.

The playmaker arrived in the January transfer window from Norwich City and has scored twice with four assists in his 10 Premiership appearances. With the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos looking destined for the exit door, Cantwell is one man Rangers fans are throwing their hats on as a man to watch under Michael Beale's reign as boss.

First-team development coach Harry Watling has watched the former England youth international at close quarters and has been impressed by what he's watched so far. And it is his ability to be brave on the ball amid a relentless expectation for success that leaves him convinced he can be a big Ibrox hit. He told Rangers TV: "I think he really gets it.

"Since he's come in I think he has raised the energy levels. You see how he plays the game, he plays the game with a real purpose, takes the ball anywhere on the pitch and shows a real bravery.

"For a club as big as ours, that is actually quite difficult to do. But I think he harnesses that expectation that the fans and the staff will put on him to be the player who wants to take the ball in these big moments.

"I am really happy for him and he is starting to convert those numbers that we speak about with him every day."
