Tipperary coach Tommy Dunne could miss the rest of the championship
Tipperary coach Tommy Dunne could be set to miss the rest of the season after being sent off during Sunday's Munster SHC defeat to Waterford at Walsh Park.
Dunne got into a heated discussion with referee Johnny Murphy and he was shown a red card at the start of the second half in the provincial opener.
RTÉ Sport understands the 2001 All-Ireland winning captain is now facing a proposed three-month ban. It would mean that Dunne would only be available if Tipperary were to reach the All-Ireland final which is scheduled for 17 July.
There will be an opportunity for the Toomevara clubman to challenge the proposed penalty at a hearing.
Dunne is part of the Tipperary management team under Colm Bonnar, and also served previously under Liam Sheedy.
