Tipp's Bubbles O'Dwyer ruled out for the season

John O'Dwyer is set to miss the remainder of Tipperary's 2022 campaign as he continues his recovery from a knee injury suffered last year.

'Bubbles' picked up the knock at a training camp with the Tipp hurlers last summer and was ruled out of the county's Allianz Hurling League panel earlier this year.

He last played for the Premier in their defeat to Waterford in last year's All-Ireland quarter-final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Manager Colm Bonnar confirmed the news to the Nenagh Guardian saying: "I had a good chat with him, he just wasn't 100% physically and the injury left him too much of a gap to reach in time for championship."

It's the latest injury blow for Bonnar, with Brendan and Padraic Maher, Willie Connors, Niall O’Meara and Bryan O’Mara all unavailable for the summer, while Seamus Callanan is set to miss the opening two rounds of the championship with a hand injury.

Tipperary open their Munster SHC campaign against Waterford at Walsh Park on 17 April.
