Timothee Chalamet fans floored by his dramatic transformation for new movie role
Fans have expressed their astonishment at Timothee Chalamet's new look for an upcoming film role, with some stating they barely recognised the actor.
The star of Dune and Wonka is currently in New York City filming Marty Supreme.
Chalamet will portray Marty Reisman, a real-life American table tennis champion who clinched the U.S. singles championship in 1958 and 1960, and was crowned U.S. hardbat champion in 1997.
Reisman, who passed away in 2012, won five bronze medals at world championships throughout his career and penned an autobiography titled The Money Player: Confessions of America's Greatest Table Tennis Champion and Hustler, reports the Mirror.
Josh Safdie, known for his work on Uncut Gems starring Adam Sandler, co-wrote and directed the film about Reisman.
While Chalamet is portraying a real-life former sports star, the film is said to be more a piece of fiction about real people than a biopic.
Chalamet has been spotted in costume as Reisman, causing a stir among fans who are excited about both his new look and the film.
His transformation includes glasses, a thin moustache, slicked-back hair, and period attire featuring a navy sweater vest over a pale green shirt.
Fans were quick to react to the actor's new appearance, with many praising Chalamet's look despite it being a departure from his usual style.
One admirer took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their amazement, saying: "He looks amazing, his hair and character look is fantastic."
Meanwhile, another enthused: "Timothee's always bringing the vibes! Can't wait."
The transformation was so thorough that some fans were left astonished, with one commenting: "I can barely recognise him, omg."
