Tied up, tortured and thrown off a boat... the Manchester couple brutally murdered on trip of lifetime

The son of the man who killed a young Manchester couple while they were on a once-in-a-lifetime journey around Central America more than 40 years ago has detailed the chilling moment he watched as his father tied up 25-year-old Chris Farmer and Peta Frampton, 24, in an upcoming Amazon Prime true crime docuseries - Dead in the Water.

Chris was a Manchester Grammar School boy who had just finished medical school, while his partner Peta was a Whalley Range High School girl who had just qualified as a lawyer, when they left Manchester to travel the world in 1977. After a whirlwind tour around Latin America, the two boarded a small ship to Belize, but would never make it.

The son of the ship's skipper, Silas Duane Boston, has now described what took place on that wooden sailing boat more than four decades ago. In the trailer for Dead in the Water, which releases February 28, his son Victor said what happened that fateful night was "a nightmare that you can't wake up from."

The Amazon Prime documentary follows the story of the young couple, from the start of their journey in Chorlton to the coast off Guatemala, where it tragically ended following an argument between Chris Farmer and Silas Boston. After Chris had challenged the older man for hitting one of his sons, the couple were tied up, tortured, and thrown off the side of the boat with heavy weights tied around their legs.

Silas Boston was finally arrested and imprisoned in 2016 after decades of investigation by the Farmer family, and later American police. But, in a tragic twist for the families of the murdered couple, he died before he could finally stand trial for his horrific crime.
