Three pundits all agree on Manchester United vs Southampton prediction

Pundits are tipping Manchester United to pick up where they left off against European opponents Real Betis when they resume their Premier League campaign at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag and his players were heavily criticised in the aftermath of their astonishing defeat to Liverpool last Sunday. However, they responded to that 7-0 demolition with a 4-1 win vs Betis as they now prepare to take on relegation-threatened Southampton.

Here's what the pundits predict will happen at Old Trafford today.

Paul Merson - Sportskeeda

Sharing his Sportskeeda predictions, Merson said: "If Manchester United could find a perfect game to bounce back after their 7-0 humbling last week, this is it. Manchester United need to put on a show for their fans.

"I know Bruno Fernandes has come under a lot of criticism for his remonstrations on the pitch during that 7-0 loss. At first, I thought it was terrible for him to react in that manner. But then I pondered over it and don't feel that critical about it anymore.

"Everybody takes losing differently. Some people are good losers. Some people are bad losers.

"If he was laughing and joking after that loss, we'd be going mad now. Some of the things he did weren't right. He lost his head. But Bruno worked hard to get that captaincy. He shouldn't have it stripped off of him because of that game."

Score prediction: Manchester United 4-0 Southampton

Chris Sutton - BBC Sport

Writing his BBC Sport column, Sutton added: "As bad a day as it [the Liverpool game] was for United - it was embarrassing for anyone who played, and they will keep being reminded of it for many years to come - some of the fallout from that game has been over the top.
