Three Manchester United players could be handed transfer lifeline after summer window closes

It's been a long summer transfer window for Manchester United.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all walked through the doors at Old Trafford, but with the club operating with Financial Fair Play concerns, other business has proven a little harder to get over the line. The club had hoped to raise more money for the transfer kitty with a number of departures, with Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, Fred, Alex Telles, Zidane Iqbal, Noam Emeran and Matej Kovar the only players leaving for fees so far.

Their departures have raised around £50million, but there is still a chance for further outgoings even after Friday's deadline passes. That is because the window for clubs in the newly flush-with-cash Saudi Pro League have until September 20 to conduct all of their business.

Former United forward Cristiano Ronaldo began something of an exodus of Europe's top talent moving to Saudi Arabia following his acrimonious departure from Old Trafford last season. Since the Portugal international joined Al-Nassr, the likes of Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema and World Cup winner N'Golo Kante have completed lucrative moves to the Middle East, along with other stars such as Neymar, Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Ruben Neves, to name but a few.

With money to burn as Saudi Arabia looks to increase the profile of its domestic football league, more transfers could well be on the way before their window closes, but those clubs have got a few weeks yet to complete all of their business.
