Three Man City players to miss FA Cup clash vs Newcastle as injury update given

Kevin De Bruyne has become the latest player to join Manchester City's injured list ahead of their crucial Premier League match with Arsenal at the end of the month.

De Bruyne was not named in the Belgium squad because he has been suffering with an underlying groin issue. Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco decided it was better for the 32-year-old to be left out of this month's friendlies to ensure he can play at Euro 2024 in the summer.

Tedesco said in a press conference: "He’s been playing with a minor groin issue during the last games. Yesterday I spoke to the doctor and Kevin and we decided that the risk is too big. It’s better to give him time to recover well at City and then have him ready for the Euros."

Injuries continue to pile up for Pep Guardiola who is currently without Ederson and Jack Grealish. Guardiola confirmed there is no return date set for Grealish who recovers from a groin issue.

He said: "When he will come back, I don't know. He has had a setback; he has to recover well so we can use him as much as possible."

Ederson will be out of action for three to four weeks after picking up an injury at Liverpool last weekend and is almost certain to miss to be ruled out of the crunch game with Arsenal on March 31. While it is disappointing news for City, Stefan Ortega has made a name for himself at the club and will be pushing to get an extended spell in front of goal.

City will of course, play Newcastle in the FA Cup quarter final this Saturday but Guardiola will not be able to count on the trio.
