Three Man City players have proven Micah Richards wrong so far this season

Manchester City stars Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland have all proven Micah Richards wrong so far this season.

The Blues have enjoyed a positive start to the campaign having not lost a match in the Premier League and Champions League. Pep Guardiola's main source of goals has been Haaland.

City's Norwegian has scored a tremendous 14 in just ten appearances in all competitions. Meanwhile Foden and Grealish have shown they have the quality to both play in the same team when asked.

Before the start of the season, Richards predicted that the Blues could face a problem trying to fit the Englishmen in the starting XI together while he was unsure about Haaland's impact in his first campaign in the Premier League. Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Blues full-back said: "Grealish likes to play on the left but so does Foden.

"It’s going to be difficult, someone at some stage will probably need to go. In my opinion I wouldn’t be selling [Gabriel] Jesus right now just because of the work for the team.

"Bernardo [Silva] also can play in those forward positions. But Haaland is different to all the players that I’ve mentioned.

"I'm not saying Haaland’s going to come in and set the world alight but he’s a different option. He's a big focal point and people can play off you, that’s the difference."

City would go on to sell Jesus in the summer and although he has started brightly at Arsenal, Haaland's form as well as Julian Alvarez's start seem to have justified Guardiola's decision. The Blues will return to action on Sunday when they host Manchester United in the derby.
