Three goalkeepers Manchester United could sign for free to replace Dean Henderson

Erik ten Hag has very clear ideas about how he wants his team to play and this will be no different at Manchester United. He likes his strikers to get into the box as quickly as possible, he likes his wingers to play into the spaces and he likes one of his full-backs to act as a pseudo-centre-back while the other goes forward (at least this is how his Ajax team plays).

And his footballing principles also extend to his goalkeeper, who must be good on the ball to help contribute to the team's build-up and also fully command his area. This has led to many United fans questioning whether David de Gea — who has been criticised for his distribution and all-around play this season even if his shot-stopping has been superb — will be up for the task under Ten Hag.

The Manchester Evening News understands Dean Henderson may leave the club if he isn't guaranteed the No.1 spot under Ten Hag. Sergio Asenjo

With Geronimo Rulli having taken the starting goalkeeper spot at Villarreal due to Asenjo's injury, the Spanish keeper could be available this summer. He would have to act as a stop-gap while United consider the goalkeeper position under Ten Hag, especially with De Gea's contract only lasting currently for another year.

Thomas Strakosha
