Thousands descend on Manchester for huge event devoted to LEGO

More than 10,000 LEGO fans are expected through the doors of Manchester Central for a huge event celebrating the beloved little bricks. Bricktastic, the UK's biggest LEGO event, is taking place this weekend.

LEGO lovers have travelled to Manchester from as far as Australia and New Zealand to check out the event. A host of spectacular displays are planned to wow the crowds today (February 24) and tomorrow.

Visitors can also enjoy activities and take part in question-and-answer sessions with LEGO model creators. But it's bad news if the LEGO fan in your life hasn't got a ticket - as the convention has completely sold out.

There are more than 200 exhibitors on display at Manchester Central for Bricktastic. Varied original LEGO creations are on display - with themes including City, Star Wars, Space, Friends and Harry Potter.

Visitors will also be able to check out an astonishing, giant LEGO mosaic, containing nearly 200,000 bricks. Bricktastic organisers say all proceeds raised will be used by the Fairy Bricks initiative.

The good cause sees LEGO deliveries being delivered to children in hospitals across the country. Fairy Bricks supports more than 50,000 children a year in the UK and beyond.
