Thomas Tuchel on decisions going against Chelsea vs Real Madrid

Thomas Tuchel has revealed he bumped into Conor Gallagher in a restaurant after Chelsea denied Crystal Palace's request to allow him to play in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend. The Blues turned down the Eagles when they asked if the on-loan midfielder could take on his parent club at Wembley.

Gallagher has been in outstanding form for Palace this season, so it's understandable to see both sides' points of view on this one. Palace wants their star midfielder to play, while Chelsea knows all about his threat and would rather not face their loanee.

Tuchel, when addressing the press ahead of the weekend's clash between the two London clubs, has admitted he understands Gallagher's frustration and revealed that they coincidentally bumped into each other at a restaurant recently. He said: "I had the chance to speak to Conor, and I understand his frustration.

"We met some weeks ago, after the international break, we ran into each other by coincidence, and we had a chat, and I apologised because I know how competitive he is. It's the way it is.

"We play to win the game, and the rules were clear when we made the loan. I can understand the disappointment of Conor."
