Thomas Tuchel: Chelsea boss was fuming with Conor Gallagher vs West Ham
Chelsea returned to winning ways against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues went into the London derby on the back of a shock 2-1 defeat away at Southampton.
Thomas Tuchel’s side needed to secure victory against the Hammers in order to avoid talks of a ‘crisis’ – and they managed to achieve it after falling 1-0 behind in the second half.
Goals from substitutes Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz cancelled out the opener from Michail Antonio at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham actually had a goal controversially chalked off just a few moments after Havertz’s winner.
Maxwel Cornet fired the ball into the back of the net, but VAR stepped in and declared that Jarrod Bowen had fouled Edouard Mendy in the build-up.
To say it was soft would be the understatement of all understatements, with West Ham captain Declan Rice labelling the decision as a “shambles”.
