Thomas Tuchel addresses Chelsea future as Manchester United links persist

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is hoping for a quick solution to the club's off-field problems as their takeover looms.

Owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Despite his best efforts to sell the club prior to the ramifications, his attempts were blocked leaving the Blues in limbo.

As a result of the uncertainty off the pitch, Tuchel has been linked with the managerial job at Old Trafford as United's search for a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues. Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are the frontrunners in the race to occupy the Old Trafford dugout at the start of the 2022/23 season.

Speaking after his side's FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough, Tuchel provided his view on the situation. The German boss is hoping for a speedy resolution to the club's problems and is clearly not planning on leaving in the near future.

"I hope the process will go through as soon as possible to clear the situation," he said. "To give everybody a prospect of what it’s like after and to calm the situation down.

"Give everybody an outlook to the nearer future. To calm things down to know who we are dealing with and the situation we are dealing with.

"This is what we hope for. I think things will be pushed through as fast as possible and maybe we will see ourselves in a bit of a calmer situation."
