This Morning's Gyles Brandreth recalls incident with 'real bloke' Rod Stewart

Sir Rod Stewart's marriage to Penny Lancaster may be harmonious, yet the star once had a minor tiff with This Morning regular Gyles Brandreth on the football pitch.

After speculation of heated arguments between Rod and Penny regarding their living situation, the celebrated musician, 79, took to social media with a fiery post to clarify the facts.

But during Friday's edition of the ITV daytime show, Gyles disclosed that his rapport with the famed singer was less than cordial as he acknowledged a past dispute during a conversation with Sian Welby, Vanessa Feltz, and Craig Doyle. "He's a superstar, a global superstar, fabulously rich, but if you meet them, these are real people," said Gyles, 76.

Gyles went on: "She (Penny) lives in the real world", and then shared that he once had a football match with Rod Stewart which led to a slight clash due to their varying play styles, reports the Mirror.

"I unfortunately played football with him and he is a real bloke, unfortunately, which I don't think I am on the football pitch. He tackled me, I fell over", he elaborated. Nevertheless, this incident hasn't dimmed his admiration for both Rod and Penny.

Sir Rod has recently taken to Instagram to directly address speculations about a rift with his wife Penny, following reports the couple were clashing about where to settle down. Allegations of a "disagreement" regarding their choice of residence emerged, but Sir Rod was quick to clarify that they are contentedly dividing their time between the UK and their homes overseas.

In his message to his 1.4 million followers, Sir Rod remarked: "We wanted to put the record straight. There is no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact, it's the opposite.
