'This is terrifying': Horror on the street where police have launched murder investigation after man found dead

Residents of a south Manchester street have spoken of their horror after discovering a murder investigation has been launched just metres away from their own front doors. A man, aged 42, was found dead in a house on Beverly Road in Fallowfield on Saturday night (September 24) with a 22-year-old male now in custody and being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Police raced to the scene of the incident shortly after 6.30pm on Saturday night, after being called by paramedics, to a report of a 42-year-old man found dead in 'suspicious circumstances' with fatal injuries inside a terraced house. His family has been informed and specially-trained officers are supporting them.

Homeowners on Beverly Road, which was described as a 'quiet' street that has experienced a handful of burglaries in recent years, said the police cordon was initially extended across the entire road on Saturday night, before later being scaled back to around the property in question on Sunday.

"We had no idea what was going on when we saw all the police, which was frightening because we have young children living here," one dad told the M.E.N from his doorstep on Sunday night.

"We haven't been told anything about what has gone on. For all we know there could have been a murderer on the loose and there are people on this street with children."

"My daughter has anxiety and couldn't stay here last night because she was so scared," one mother added. "We heard nothing last night. There was no screaming or shouting or anything at all, but we were in when we saw all the police turn up and block off the road.

"There was a man at that house that I would see sometimes smoking a cigarette
