"They said guests can 'make themselves at home'": Man, 31, is kicked out of Manchester Premier Inn because of what he did in their restaurant

A man was left furious after he claimed Premier Inn staff kicked him out of their restaurant in Manchester city centre for being barefoot - despite advertising that 'anything goes' and customers can 'make themselves at home'.

Blake Kerr said he will often ditch his shoes when out and about as his size 10 feet and 'hammer toe' rub and leave his 'pinky toes' sore and blistered. On October 21, the 31-year-old went down to breakfast at the Premier Inn on Portland Street barefoot.

He said he was seated by a member of staff in the Thyme restaurant, but as he went to grab a drink Blake was stopped by another member and told to put on some shoes, he claimed. When Blake asked if it was a requirement he says he was told it was a 'health and safety' policy.

He went back to his room, begrudgingly put on a pair of trainers and returned to the buffet area. Blake said there is no health and safety policy in the UK and that he now wants clarity on why he's allowed to go barefoot in some branches of Premier Inn but not others.

The menu blurb on the Thyme Bar & Grill boasts 'we don't believe in rules… anything goes. Relax and make yourself at home'. Blake branded the hotel 'the worst Premier Inn in the UK' on social media over the row and says he probably won't stay there again.
