'They know my CV' - Flanagan confirms nomination for Roscommon post

Ex-Offaly boss Pat Flanagan has indicated his interest in the vacant Roscommon manager's job and confirmed he's been nominated by Padraig Pearses.

Flanagan guided Pearses to the Connacht club title in 2021, overcoming Knockmore in the provincial decider.

In the off-season, the experienced manager has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial spots in both Roscommon and Longford.

In the wake of Pearses' heavy loss to St Brigid's in Sunday's Roscommon SFC clash, Flanagan emphatically dismissed the speculation around the Longford post but acknowledged that he'd been nominated for the Roscommon job, saying the county board were well aware of his CV.

"It just baffles me at times to see where these stories come from; I've had absolutely no contact with Longford whatsoever," Flanagan told Shannonside Sport.

"As far as the Roscommon situation is concerned they know my CV, if they want a call, they know where I am."

"They’re a very proud county and I’d imagine that whoever’s going to get that job in the near future will get it internally, it certainly won’t be on a media circus.

As to whether Roscommon GAA had sought him out, he replied: "I'm not saying there was no contact but I’m not saying that I know any further than that. Obviously, Padraig Pearses put my name forward for the position so we’ll have to just wait and see."

Flanagan has considerable experience at inter-county level, managing Westmeath (2010-13), Sligo (2013-14) and Offaly (2014-17).

Roscommon have been seeking a manager since Anthony Cunningham's departure earlier this month. In four seasons in charge, the outgoing boss guided the county to a Connacht title in 2019, as well as the Division 2 title last April.
