'They can kill teams' - Hull KR boss Tony Smith not fooled by Warrington form

Tony Smith has warned Hull KR they will need to match Warrington Wolves' desperation if they are to claim a much-needed win on Friday night.

The Wire will be out to prove their Super League title credentials at Craven Park after seeing their Challenge Cup dream crushed by Wakefield Trinity.

Back-to-back home defeats to Wakefield took Warrington's losing streak to four games and left Daryl Powell questioning his team's mentality and togetherness.

Smith, who was in charge of the Wolves between 2009 and 2017, has a different view on his old club's recent run of form.

The Rovers head coach has seen enough to make him wary of Warrington clicking back into gear this week.

"They're trying really hard," said Smith.

"They're running hard, they're tackling hard. They've got some speed across the park and they're dangerous.

"They're a bit wounded at the moment with their confidence. Their coach is giving it to them but when I go look at them, some of them have never run so hard and they're breaking tackles.

"They're dangerous like most Warrington teams when they put it together. They can kill teams.

"We've got to be wary of that and make sure they don't put it all together on an evening when we can have some control over that. We need to be matching their enthusiasm and desperation. If not, bettering it.

"It's a good challenge for us."

A three-match winning streak at the start of the season has been enough to keep Powell's side above the Robins in the table.

Rovers - like so many of their rivals - are still striving for their best form having picked up four points from the opening six rounds.

Smith is relaxed about his team's early-season results, with the 55-year-old expecting most sides to suffer from inconsistency throughout
