“There’s an opportunity”: Transfer insider hints Spurs could soon land their next Dele Alli

Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence could follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli amid interest in his services from Tottenham Hotspur, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 21-year-old is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Championship rivals Nottingham Forest where he has attracted the attention of a handful of Premier League giants.

Spence has established himself as one of the second tier’s top talents since moving to the City Ground back in May.

As per WhoScored, the right-back – who Martin Keown labelled a ‘Rolls-Royce’ – has been Forest’s fifth-best performer throughout 2021/22, achieving a season rating of 6.94.

However, it was his outstanding display in the FA Cup third-round victory over Arsenal that really catapulted him onto the radars of some of England’s biggest clubs.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham, Arsenal and Leeds United were among the sides to have an interest in Spence during the January transfer window.

The report stated that Spurs have been tracking the full-back for several seasons and were considering making a move last month as new manager Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his options down the flanks.

Conte’s charges failed to follow up their interest with a formal offer, though, but Jones believes Spence could still be a success in north London.

If Tottenham are finally able to bring their long-term target to the club, the transfer insider has claimed Spence could learn from Alli’s initial success after he made the transition from the Football League to the top-flight with minimal fuss.
