‘There is a quality player in there’ – Many West Brom fans react as club strike transfer agreement with former Reading player

West Brom have confirmed the signing of Andy Carroll, via the club website.

The 33-year-old joins the Baggies following a short stint with Championship counterparts Reading, a spell where Carroll really stood out for the Royals.

Chipping in with two goals and an assist in eight appearances, whilst consistently being a top performer in Veljko Paunovic’s side, Carroll proved to be an excellent asset at Championship level.

West Brom’s move to bring in Carroll follows the news that another January signing in Daryl Dike is set to miss a couple of months of Championship action.

The 21-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in West Brom’s 3-0 victory over Peterborough United, dealing Valerien Ismael and his side a major blow.

Carroll, who has just shy of 250 Premier League appearances to his name, possesses the physicality and relentlessness required in an Ismael side, whilst also proving to know where the back of the net is.

The forward has also represented England at senior level, with Carroll appearing nine times for the Three Lions and scoring two goals in the process.

Here, we take a look at how West Brom fans on Twitter have reacted to the arrival of the former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker…

Has there ever been a signing more destined to happen
