"There are reports...": Solhekol drops huge January update, Wolves fans will be fuming - opinion

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore is set to join Spanish giants Barcelona, initially on loan, after taking a medical ahead of rejoining the Catalan club six-and-a-half years after leaving.

According to Sky Sports, Traore is close to a move to Barcelona having undergone a medical on Friday evening.

The La Liga side are reportedly taking the Spaniard on loan for the rest of the season with an option to make the deal permanent for £29m in the summer.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Wolves’ Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur but, according to Sky Sports, he was “unconvinced” by their “offer to use him in a variety of positions.”

Moreover, Sky Sports News Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol said on the ‘The Transfer Show’: “It looks like Spurs have missed out on Adama Traore, with Barcelona having agreed a deal in principle to take him on loan from Wolves, with an option to buy in the summer for about £25m.

“And when a club like Barcelona come in for you, it is very difficult to say no and that is why he has decided to go back to Barcelona. And I really do not think here was much Spurs could have done about this.

“There are reports in Spain he has agreed to take a pay cut as well to move to Barcelona – so it looks like bad news for Spurs as far as Traore is concerned.”

Although his goal contributions suggest otherwise, Traore is an important squad player for Bruno Lage’s side.

The Spaniard has only managed one Premier League goal so far this term, however, he is still the only winger to have scored for the West Midlands club in the top-flight this campaign.
