The 'useless' Celtic fan complaint that's gone silent as former boss only hears it when they're 'losing to some rubbish'

Gordon Strachan reckons winning in football is the only thing that matters - because he only hears that the Celtic board are 'useless' when the club are failing on the pitch.

The Hoops are motoring along nicely under Brendan Rodgers after a near-seamless transition from the Ange Postecoglou era into Rodgers' second spell. There was some early discontent among fans at Rodgers' return but the football has quickly won them back over with confidence high they'll win the league again this term.

They backed Rodgers in the summer, spending big on Arne Engels, Auston Trusty and Adam Idah, reinvesting the bulk of Matt O'Riley's transfer fee in the process. That alleviated one of the major concerns among fans in recent years - that the board have been reluctant to spend on the squad.

In any case the days of furious fan protests in Dingwall seem a long time ago now and Strachan reckons that is simply because the football is all going to plan. He was speaking on the SPFL's The Warm Up podcast with Craig Levein, who started a debate by saying it's 'impossible' for a manager to build a winning team in less than a year, expressing sympathy for David Gray at Hibs, where many fans want him gone after just a few months in charge.

Strachan responded: “Nobody is going to give you that time anymore. We just want to win. Hibs fans and Hearts fans. They just want to be better than the other ones.

“Everybody pontificates about what they want to see, the football, this and that. No, they don’t. Hibs fans just want to beat Hearts. That’s it. Rangers fans just want to beat Celtic. Forget Europe, forget anything else, forget the money and forget whatever else you're talking about. They just want to beat Celtic. That would keep them happy.
