The stunning Greater Manchester garden where kids won’t be bored during the school holidays

One garden in Greater Manchester is ensuring kids won’t be bored this summer as it hosts a range of activities in the coming weeks. RHS Garden Bridgewater is offering little ones the chance to get close to nature during the school holidays.

This year, families can take part in an interactive trail as the garden teams up with Aardman Animations. Running daily until Sunday September 3 is The Grand Bug & Pest Hotel Hunt, featuring the character Lloyd from Aardman’s new comedy series, Lloyd of the Flies.

Children need to seek out Lloyd and other characters as they have become lost on the way to the luxury bug hotel at RHS Bridgewater. Along the way, there will be a host of fascinating minibeast facts and interactive fun.

As part of the trail families can use a special augmented reality app developed by Aardman to ‘shrink’ down to fly size and see the world through insect eyes as they complete the trail with Lloyd and his friends. Suitable for children of all ages, the Lloyd of the Flies AR Bug Hunt app will see characters from the hit CITV show pop up amongst the flowers in selected locations around the garden.

The app is free to download from the Apple store and Google Play Store and includes lots of interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy. The trail isn’t the only activity taking place at RHS Garden Bridgewater this summer.

Kids can get the chance to meet real-life minibeasts with Zoolab, while they’ll also be outdoor theatre sessions. Families can get creative with craft sessions while Aardman will also run model making and animation workshops (which cost £12 per person).
