The 'second season' Ange Postecoglou and Celtic refrain revisited as he insists the best is yet to come

When Ange Postecoglou arrived at Celtic there was a consistent plea from his most ardent supporters from overseas.

Fanatics of the A-League and J-League often told of a boss who was incredibly effective but one whose methods took some time, even a whole campaign or more, to bed in.

But the Scottish Football Writers' Association Manager of the Year knew that, at a club the size of the Premiership champions-elect, he wouldn't get a crack at a second season if the first didn't go to plan.

11 months on from his unveiling he is about to scoop a Premier Sports Cup and league Double in his first term as boss.

All that's needed is to pick up one more point on Wednesday night against Dundee United.

Speaking at the SFWA awards night, Postecoglou said: "Look, we have to be better next year, irrespective of how we've been this year.

"But the way I want teams to play and the whole training process – it takes a while for people to gel to.

"I'm really hopeful that next year we will be a stronger team. We have to be, and I look forward to what that brings."
