The 'run-down' flats that went to auction for £1 and sold for six figures after almost 100 bids

A property that started off with a guide price of just £1 has surprised an estate agent by fetching an impressive six-figure sum at auction.

Pattinson Estate Agents took to TikTok to share a glimpse of two modestly sized flats in Newcastle which had been left in a state . The previous occupants' possessions, including various items from the 1990s, were strewn across the property with each room seen fallen into disrepair.

Despite the derelict state, in a surprising turn of events, Pattinson revealed to the Mirror: "We had a lot of interest in the sale to the point we ended up bringing the auction to a close sooner than originally planned. The property sold for £100,000 exactly with 98 bids."

Following the successful auction, they took to Instagram to express their satisfaction, posting: "We are pleased to say we have a very HAPPY SELLER due to the fantastic work of our auction team, and we have achieved the seller a whopping £100,000 for this pair of flats after almost 100 bids from interesting parties."

The TikTok video shared by Pattinson promoting the flats begun at the front of the building in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where an overgrown hedge hides much of the structure.

This sets the scene for the interior, which includes a kitchen cluttered with a TV and printer among other items left on the counters, and floors littered with cardboard and polystyrene, reports the Mirror.

The living room was filled with heaps of broken furniture and rubbish, with the carpet completely taken over by clutter. A framed picture of Jesus was seen resting on the floor amidst vinyl records, CDs and board game boxes.
